‘Me in Pink (a self portrait) by Laura Crean.

Hello everyone, my name is Laura Crean and I am a Christian, a Mother, an author, artist and poet.

I am a very artistic person and my imagination is pretty complex LOL.  I have been writing on and off pretty much all of my life and started writing novels when I was in my twenties.  I suppose I have been too shy or down on myself to try to publish before now and my life has been pretty up and down, so I am only now just starting to feel I need to bring my work out of the trunk and into the sunshine for all to see.

Every writer I talk to tells me I should be blogging, when I published my first works and took my first tentative steps into this brave and complicated new literary world, I thought I had better pull my finger out as it were.  However, this world of writing is a tough place to be.  I thought rather naively that I would just write up my manuscripts and get them published!!! Eh No!

I didn’t really find the time as a busy single mother of 3 girls and feel now that I’m in my late forties, fast approaching fifty, that time is running out.

Everything I have tried to do relating to getting published or sell my art work seems to cost too much money – everyone wants to charge you a lot for everything to do with getting your writing and art out there and seen – and unfortunately I never seem to have any money spare after rent and bills etc. – I never seem to be able to catch a break.  Sorry about the doom and gloom but that’s how it is – my sad little life in a nut shell LOL.  So…I self-publish a little at a time and I am gradually building up my series of children’s and young adult’s books in a scheme called ‘The Rainbow Rune Series’ and even though I have a  novel out, entitled ‘The Realm of the Purple Dragon’ (available to buy through Lulu.com and Amazon) and some poetry books – I don’t have a lot of time between working to write or do much artwork;  but what I do create I am always pleased with and so every so often I will blog what’s new, whether a piece of art, a poem or a chapter of a book.

My novels for older readers are, it seems, perpetually in the making and as I continue with my spiritual journey, posts, artworks, products and books will emerge reflecting that side of my nature too…

So there you have it, that is my introduction to you all.  I have a lot to offer the world through my writing and my art and if you check out all my links to my other sites, you will be able to buy my work and find out more about what I get up to.

I really do hope and encourage you all to share this blog – as an artist it is so important that people appreciate your art and as a word-smith it is so important that people read and appreciate your writing, but also that people buy an artist’s work, whether it is books or art works – because artists need to pay the bills and feed the kids too and feel appreciated  LOL

Please continue to watch this space…

God Bless and Love and Light to you all

    • Well thank you. Yes I would rather publish myself and know that I have tried to express myself and show off my work to the world in my own way, rather than continuing to be disheartened by nobody reading my life’s work 😉 EVERYONE can write – even poetry! 😀

      • I never got past “The was an old woman from Leeds, who swallowed a packet of seeds….”
I am too much of a gentleman to finish that….and you probably know it anyway.
        Er…oops…maybe you don’t. 😉

    • Hello to you – and to you. Actually I want to scream “Live long and prosper” at you – don’t ask me why, just seems to be an appropriate response 😀 But thank you my journey fares well 😉

  • Hi, Laura. Back in November, you commented on one of my blog posts. You said

“I feel God has given you a gift of writing for a reason! And you shouldn’t feel that you cannot use that gift! That is all I’m saying Sir. Why can’t you do both great works and use ALL the gifts God has given you? And doing good works through a feeling of guilt (because you don’t feel you have the right to do what makes you happy and should be suffering for your faith) to me isn’t doing the good works for the right reason! Do it because you really want to do it and it makes you happy – not because you think you should suffer. My idol and hero all my life was Mother Teresa – and when Princess Diana died around the same time as her and had a huge funeral and everybody praising her good works and nobody even mentioned Mother Teresa I was so upset – I was fuming – and then I found out the truth about that little nun and I cried for days and was physically sick because she tortured those poor people in her care under the false illusion that God wants us all to suffer for him!!! So yeah – It does upset me when people feel they should be suffering for God!!! There is enough suffering in the world already – and if your God wants you to suffer then you must be praising a different God to me”

I just want you to know that it was spot on truth. I just wasn’t in a place where I could see that at the time. Now that I am, I remembered what you said back then and I just wanted to say thank you.

    May God bless you abundantly,

    • Chris,

I love God with all my heart and all my soul, with every fibre of my being. I feel him in every area of my life and I speak to him every single day of my life. Just because I don’t go to church every Sunday and don’t preach from a pulpit, doesn’t mean my love for him is any less. I try to feel him in my interactions with people on a daily basis. I am so pleased that you remembered what I had said and I’m sure that when you do what you love, it is with the love of the Holy Spirit in your heart. I feel blessed through my lovely children and family and hearing how you are using your God given gifts lifts my spirit. I want you to know that you have often been in my heart, thoughts and prayers.

      God bless, Love and Light.

      ❤ Laura ❤

  • Welcome to Virtual Vitamins! I too have loved F/SF since I really discovered it in my early teenage years. May the words I write be a blessing to you, and may what you write bless many.

    • Thank you for popping in. I am enjoying dipping in and out of Virtual Vitamins and I am encouraged and blessed by your words – yes. I hope my own words do touch some peoples hearts, but I am, like everyone on a journey that, sometimes, is very confusing to me. I hope the days that God speaks to my heart are the days that I capture something of his beauty and love in what ends up on here. Thank you for stopping by and God Bless.
